Silhouette, love it or list

So for those of you who rather pull your eyes out than read, I’ll cut straight to the point for you. I love it. I love my silhouette machine. I own the Silhouette Cameo 3 and have had it for four years I think.

Now for those of you who need to know more, here is why.

Growing up I always loved partaking in arts and crafts! As I grew older that love grew and the crafts became more complicated. It was so much fun! When I heard about the silhouette machine and all of the cool things it could help you create I was hooked. You need to understand something from the very beginning though about the Silhouette Machine. It is a paper cutter (and some can cut thicker materials like leather, foam, and wood). But at its core, it is a blade you can program to cut your materials. It does not make stickers. I started to hear the names Cricut and Silhouette when sticker making was becoming super popular. Sticker makers loved these machines for all the time they could help you save. Suddenly you didn’t have to sit around for hours cutting out all of your stickers by hand, but your machine could do it in minutes. For a few months I used my Silhouette to cut out my stickers and only stopped because I was beginning to loathe my printer. That’s beside the point though.

  1. The silhouette is ready to cut right out the box, no calibrating is required.

  2. There are fewer troubleshooting issues with this machine.

  3. It can cut more than just paper depending on the blade you use (ex. cotton fabric, felt, leather, acetate, craft foam, burlap)

  4. You can create so much! I’ve made pop up cards, classroom decor, 3D paper shoes, 3D Shadow Box Art just to name a few

  5. It is a huge time saver if you are using it to cut stickers.

  6. The blade can be switched out for a pen, so it can write! I’ve used it to write text on papers that are too thick to go through my printer.

  7. You need to follow @SilhouetteSchool on Facebook! She is an amazing teacher and shares all of her know how when it comes to the Silhouette machines.
